The azelak is a branch of the evolution of the Prosubigosaurus. This creature has adapted to live in the high mountains. It has grown a coat of warm fur, which has retained some of the prosubigosaurus's color changing ability. In addition to this, the rear tail-leg has degenerated, as tripodal locomotion wasn't steady enough for life amongst the rocks of the mountains. The two smaller appendages of the prosubigosaurus have become much larger and are now used for walking. The azelak's diet consists mainly of alpine violetgrass, while those that live in the western alpine regions will also eat leaves of the western pinepalm.
