The finback has split from its ancestor, the larvabacks and spread all across the planets oceans. The finback has become a larger more predatory creature who now feeds on the common oceanscooter. They have much more sensitive hairs than their ancestors and can detect subtle changes of the flow in the water very quickly. Their eardrums have become much larger and are capable of using echolocation to identify the shapes and positions of objects. They have also become much more quick and hydrodynamic than their ancestor. Most of their body is smooth and their snorkels have developed into a fin that they breath through. Another advance feature to increase their speed is their bumpy torso shell, like a crocodillian, their bumpy skin allows them to go two times as faster than if their skin was smooth.
The finback is solitary creature who spends its time swimming near the surface of the water to be close to the surface where it can breathe. Throughout the day they will hunt to eat whatever they can find, but they are at their peak of hunting at night when their prey cannot see them.
During the spring they will journey to coastlines to mate. After mating the female lays her eggs in shallow water. The larvae stage has become less differentiated from their parents having not as developed fins and feeding on small prey.
