The ghastrish has replaced its ancestor and its relative the geistrat in the Huggs Taiga area. It has also been able to spread to Huggs Beach where it takes advantage of the various currybugs. The ghastrish is very similar to its ancestor. It still hunts in packs but has widened its diet to plants. These helped it survive just after the ice meteor.
The largest physical change is its ears. They are now much tougher than its ancestor and bend around the largest eye. The ghastrish can move each ear independently which helps it locate possible prey or others of its clan. During strong sunlight, they also protect the sensitive eyes from the light. One eye has also grown in size. This increases its power and allows its night vision to get stronger. They also now face forward instead of out to the side giving the ghastrish good binocular vision.
The ghastrish has started to leave its tunnelling days behind. It spends most of its time on the surface but in extreme weather conditions, each group will have a local den to shelter in that may have been an old nogbarrel hole. It has also evolved camouflage to blend into the area above and below ground. This helps escape predators such as the fishing grasper.
