The irisiri is a parasite, remaining in the external regions more irrigated by corporal fluids of other creatures. When it is settled, it remains immovable, absorbing the oxygen and the nutrients that it needs. In the extremity of its long pseudopod, there are structures responsible for the release of chemical messengers who, when in the water, make the nearest irisiris move to that place, guided by chemotaxis.
