Descendant of | Ancestor of |
The marine carpoplaque has replaced its ancestor microplaque in the seas of Sagan 4. It has specialized the carpozoa kingdom since they have calcium teeth. It lives much like its ancestor by growing into large colonies covering the surface of the teeth and gums in a clear "biofilm". It eats not only the left over food materials in the mouth but will absorb the calcium of the teeth themselves. Thus creating thick calcium deposits on the surface of the teeth. This can lead to gum disease and tooth decay in its host.
Living Relatives (click to show/hide)
These are randomly selected, and organized from lowest to highest shared taxon. (This may correspond to similarity more than actual relation)
None found. Note that this does not necessarily mean it has no living relatives at all, but that, assuming all taxonomy is filled in, its entire phylum is extinct; any relatives it does have likely do not resemble it.
