The parasite ballstalk replaced its ancestor in all areas except the Yokto River and Yokto Marsh. It no longer relies on photosynthesis to survive, but instead greedily feeds on the nutrients that its host produces, this causes the host to become disfigured from starvation. The parasite's body is completely encased in its hosts spore pod, resulting in a sort of gall, with the exception of a few long roots used for respiration and taking in extra water. Its body, due to no longer needing to perform photosynthesis, is virtually all spore pod.
