The pistonsaw armorsnapper replaced its ancestor the omnisaw armorsnapper in the Huggs rainforest and Huggs temperate forest. It has become a herbivore who eats the abundant flora in the regions. Thanks to the lyrostira's canoe-like leaves it can lay is soft eggs in the pools of water that gathers in them; this mean it no longer has to go to the river to breed.
The parents do not take care of their young or eggs and only about 30% of the hatchlings survive. Every hatching 10-15 eggs are hatched. The temperate subspecies still hibernate while the rainforest subspecies are active year round. They do it by burrowing themselves underground and growing a moist, shelled cocoon. When the cold winter is over they will break out of their cocoon and eat it.
Its saw has improved a lot and now has developed a piston-like muscle that can saw off leaves without it having to move its neck back and forth. Its long prehensile tongue grasps the leaves that are cut off the flora. It has gotten a bit fatter because of its stomach has to digest the plant matter, thus it is a bit sluggish and must eat all the time. They no longer swim and spend all their life on land; their armor has also expanded now that they are not swimming - this protects their back from any predators.
They can still change colors in their non-shelled parts of the body though as they are loners and rarely communicate they rarely use this ability. They only use this ability to change their colors according to the biome they stay at, from purple to slightly brown.
