The plated battleswarmer replaced its ancestor, the plated swarmer. The plated battleswarmer is a result of reproduction gone wrong, two plated swarmers were joined head to tail, making it twice as long, but it now has double the amount of tentacles, allowing it to swim faster, which is useful for filter-feeding and escaping from predators (such as the sea turtsnapper). The plates on its body have become slightly opaque, allowing it to photosynthesize more.
