The scalong is a fairly harmless creature that just helps the circle of life in Sagan 4. It lives on the scales and skin of rough and big creatures (armored plents), mostly those who have armor or cracked skin so it can stay in the small tunnels inside. It can cause an allergic reaction in some species and terrible itchiness, but that rarely happens.
