Having split from its ancestor, the speckled foi has taken to life near the coast. A small herbivore/scavenger, it defends itself with a mild neurotoxin that causes extreme nausea in anything that eats, save for those with immunities to it. Underneath its skin it has developed a paper-thin layer of "armor" formed from the cellulose of the flora. Seeing as it could not fully digest it, it put it to good use as a minor protection and to also give its shape a more stable form.
