The amphibious flashkelp split from its ancestor the flashkelps. It now lives in the tidal zone of Putspooza Island. It has grown very large due to island giganatism and has developed a primitive vascular system. Its leaves now grow in a fan-like shape where new buds form in the center and old leafs shrink and die at the edges.

Like its ancestors it absorbs red light with its green chloroplasts and reproduces via binary fission. They can produce a flash of light when harmed. This sets off a chain reaction within a cluster thus scaring away any predators with eyes. They have a strong cell walls which help them keep their leaf-like shape.
