Ancestor:Descendants:

The avian descendant of the Octocrocus evolved to be able to "hop" on air molecules, and therefore be closer to the sun and to the creatures violet-radiation food source. The main cell's membrane spreads to it's "legs", making it more suitable for hoping out of water and hover over air molecules. Each day, the microbes hover in multitudes over the lake like a gas cloud, soaking light from the sun.
