Ancestor:Descendants:

The beach sauceback split off from it's ancestor and has adapted to life on Ittiz Beach, hunting the descendant of it's previous prey, the rocky capiri. Several adaptations have evolved on this sauceback, it's feathers have become reddish scales, to blend in with it's surroundings, since the scales are rougher and tougher than feathers, as well as being able to protect it from rough sand. It has also developed a simple, light-sensitive patch on it's forehead for hunting that detects light in the infrared range. When hunting, it noisily stalks a beach capiri out of it's own territory and into an others. The other capiri's crest will be pumped with blood, challenging the stalked one, which will bring the two capiris into a blood pumping competition. When the two capiri's crests are hot with blood, the sauceback and it's pack, who have been waiting, partially buried in the sand, charge at the capiris and rip open their blood-filled crests, leading the capiris into a rather gory demise.
