The cave prickworm split form its ancestor the prickworm. Some migrated underground into Darwin Water Table. Once there they eventually lost their need for pigment and have become a pinkish white due to their red blood. Like their ancestor they filter microbes out of the water. However they have also become detritivores do to all the other organic matter they collect in their "filters horns". Once filled up they will lick them clean with their very long tongues.
They do not move much, nor do they need to. Their spines and hard exoskeleton deter most underground predators like the tablesnapper. And even if a predator was to try to eat them they have a very strong grip to the ground with their leg spurs. Like their ancestors they can hibernate in a mucous sac they create around their bodies. They only do this if the water table level runs low. This prevents them from drying out.
They can mate at any time, however they usually mate when there is an abundance of food. After mating the female will release the fertilized eggs into the water. Very few survive to adulthood, however since they lay hundreds of eggs some are bound to survive. Like most Sagavermes they have a worm-like larval form. This form mainly eats rotting material at the bottom of the water table until they grow their "filter horns".
