The majority of colonuses have regained their abilities to absorb surrounding microbes for fuel. They have left the caves have adapted for a wide range of environments, and can survive in any but the most extreme conditions. Those that fully dependent on the [[Micro Fort|micro fort]] organelles have remained in subterranean Dixon. One species has even adapted the organelles of [[carpozoa]] after engulfing cells from their waste.
