The cropshroom split from its ancestor the branchshroom. It has become semi-domesticated by the diggerundi. It has reverted back to its old detritivore ways and is tended by the farmer diggerundi underground. They are fertilized and watered. The spores are planted and stalks are harvested.
Under the cap are miniature versions of the shroom which will grow upside down so the diggerundi can reach them. Picking them off does not kill the shroom and they can be harvested for many years. They have no pigment of their own and turn brown because of the fertilizer they absorb.
They exclusively live underground in these colonies and do not do well on their own when not tended.
