The ferrumligamen is essentially a large group of ferrumcarcer and thus has replaced its ancestor. Due to their magnetic properties, they have come to arrange themselves in long strands, reaching up to 2 cm long, although it remains only one cell thick. The link they create allow them to share nutrients between themselves. This superior configuration has completely replaced the old single cell. When one of the cells in the middle of the string reproduces, via binary fission, the original cell remains connected in the strand while the other is separated. The separate cell will eventually become it's own strand. If the reproducing cell is at either end of the strand, it will merely add on to the end, increasing its length. This species can survive anywhere where there is enough iron, recognizable by the rusty red color it gives the ground.
