The flattened gigarystal split from its ancestor. It has adapted to the alpine environment even more. The entire crystal has become dark to absorb more heat, and has decreased in height to about 20 cm. To further conserve energy, its metabolic processes have slowed down. It takes 3 weeks for the crystal to grow to its full size, releases spores every 3 months, and has a lifespan of about 10 years.
