Ancestor:Descendants:

The fruiting grovecrystal replaced its ancestor, the tribranch grovecrystal, in Darwin. It has grown a little bit talled and has many more branches with photosynthetic crystals. However the adaption that helped it replace its ancestor was its new fruit. Made from the same chitin as its crystal leaves these hard fruits helped attracted fruigivores that helped it spread far and wide much faster than asexual budding. It still has rapid growth like its ancestor but grows from the spores inside its tennis ball-like fruit. The outside of the fruit has a hard chitin shell, while inside is a sweet fungus with many spores inside. These spores can pass through the digestive tracts of fauna and still are able to grow (with a fertilizer boost).
