The lungflora split from its ancestor the chitjorns. A population of chitjorns on Ovi Island developed island gigantism and grew to 10 times its ancestor's size. Its shape is similar to its ancestor but its physiology has changed. It now has breathing holes circling its chitin trunk and a stretchy air sack on the top. It will breath in and out air to get more oxygen then most flora do. The air sac is photosynthetic with green chloroplasts.
It uses a water based diaphragm to move the lungs in and out. The pneumatic siphons let water in and out, thus allowing the diaphragm to contract. These breathing holes also allow for airborne spores to be blown out. Once in the air they can spread long distances to spread to new areas of the island. Unlike their ancestors they need much more nutrients to grow and thus depend upon pioneer species to get the soil fertile enough for them to spread.
