The maritime shockshell gilltail split from its ancestor the shockshell gilltail. They have returned to the ocean following the maritime shockshell. Their coloration has changed to blend into the environment. Like their ancestors, the maritime shockshell gilltails can pry, bash or smash the shockshells apart using their large beaks. They are slightly bigger, but otherwise the same as their ancestors.
