The martyk teproutine split from its ancestor and migrated to the Martyk Sandstone Caves, instead of moving through the dirt, it has turned it's flagella into root like organelles in order to save energy, and now simply attaches itself to the walls and feeds off the minerals in them.
It has lost its protective "head" as it is no longer required.
