Ancestor:Descendants:

The octofoi replaced its ancestor, the quadfoi. Evolving from a chance mutation, there are now eight foi "arms" that are linked together that move around across the seafloor and look for decomposing organic matter more easily, since there is more surface area on the bottom that can obtain food; and it has also developed a system that transmits hormonal signals throughout the 8 foi arms to help coordinate movement. It still can regenerate if one of its arms gets ripped off.
