Ancestor:Descendants:

The Pebbleback split from its ancestor Tileback. However the Tileback went extinct in the Maineiac Polar Coast due to it being out competed and changing environment. It has moved to warmer water along the south coast of Maineiac. Here too was a lot of competition in the water but not so much on land. Likes its ancestor it has to lay its frog-like eggs into the water. However its quick growth means the offspring come to land much earlier to avoid being eaten by the abundant predators.

As adults there are not as many predators. Thus its back armor has lessened from become and are now round pebble shapes. These plate help warm its body in the sun so it can stay active longer. It has also had some populations move more inland to the Woodland and Chaparral. However they still must come back to the sea to spawn.

They still communicate using their dewlap and can change color and show general needs and emotions. Herd of 10 to 20 individuals will roam grazing on flora and move on to new areas. They with the Maineiac Uktank are the major herbivores on Mainiac. The have developed a symbiotic relationship with the Maineiac Uktank. Since they cannot hear and the Maineiac Uktank can they let them listen for predators. The Pebbleback however has much better eyesight than the Maineiac Uktank and can spot predators better. Between the two of them they are able to aware of their surrounding in both the night and day time. Note this only happens where their ranges overlap.
