The platebranch twinkoral split from its ancestor, the pioneer twinkoral. As the sole flora species in the Kenotai waterways (except the linked bubblgea) for several million years, the pioneer twinkoral rapidly varied into many different species to fill some of the available niches. The platebranch twinkoral evolved to maximize sunlight gathered, with large, flattened leaflike structures at the ends of its branches for the greatest surface area.
