The plengrove is an offshoot and now lives in the Huggs Marsh. It grows in the shallow water and needs the tides for reproduction. The tissue around and under the breathing hole is sponge-like and will swell when water touches it; thus, in rising waters the tissue below the hole will push the stalk with the spores on it out of the hole, while the tissue around the hole swells so much that it will close the hole so that no water can flow inside. The spores are then carried by the water to other areas in the swamp. Because the breathing hole is closed, the plengrove advanced its ability to breathe through the leaves heavily, so long as there is a high tide. Due to this relationship, the plengroves just grow as high as the water gets, so that the top is flooded while at high tide.
Because it lives in shallow waters, it's nearly unreachable to many of the herbivores. However the plengroves are cut down by neavers mostly. Because the roots don't stand on firm soil, the plengrove could topple down when the mud below is washed away. Thus the roots now grow into the mud and grow much longer than the visible parts.
