Splitting from its ancestor, the scarlethorn has taken to the scrub and grasslands of the continent of Drake. Even more poisonous than its ancestor, it advertises its deadly nature to would-be predators with bright, contrasting colors. Their legs have become more sturdy, and their tips now end in hoof-like projections of "shell" that protect them and allow for more easy traversing of uneven surfaces. Finally, their skin has become thicker and is now better at retaining moisture, preventing them from drying out under conditions which would have killed their ancestors.
Serving as an all-purpose cleaning crew wherever they are found, scarlethorns feed off almost anything they come across. This generalized diet, combined with their toxic nature, has led to the species becoming very numerous.
