The scavenger snark replaced its ancestor, the snark. Since so many other predators were in the sea the snark had to find a new niche. Thus became a scavenger, however this niche was already filled by the scavenging parrotworm. The snark had a better adaptations such as color changing and gills which lead to the extinction of the savenging parrotworm. In addition they doubled in size and developed a sense of smell in the gill-nostrils which helped them find food better. Since they are cold-blooded they can last for months without food. However when something comes along such as a dark giant shovelhead corpse it will gorge itself on it until there is nothing left.
They are usually solitary but when they meet at large corpses they will mate as well. Gestation is very quick and they lay their eggs into the sand on the sea floor within a few days after mating. Babies will feed on the close by corpse but must be careful not to get eaten themselves. They must grow fast during this time since their next meal could be many kilometers away. When eating they may loose some teeth from hard bones, luckily they can regrow their teeth.
