Opportunistic feeders, they can be found grazing on [[azulglobe]]s to stalking schools of [[whorl]]s. They reproduce during each full moon, releasing thousands upon thousands of eggs into the sand that will eventually result in dozens of new shortbeak gilltail surviving into adulthood.
