The population of vicious saucebackss soon began to boom and some, due to too much competition, were pushed to the edge of the temperate forest and even out of it. The savannas are much hotter, and sources of food are few and far between compared to the rainforest, and to compensate they needed to easily snare anything they could get, thus the advanced and terrifying jaw that keeps whatever it can grab. To aid the Saucebackssaucebacks' overheating bodies, they soon began to develop a few ways to combat the heat. The dominant form was the large spines on the back that acted as heat sinks, pulling the heat away from the center of the Saucebackssaucebacks' bodies. Spineyspiney Saucebackssaucebacks are in competition with their cousins, the leaping saucebackss, even preying on them sometimes. There is nothing able to stand up to a Spineyspiney Saucebacksauceback, except a pack of Leapingleaping Saucebackssaucebacks or groups of large plentsplents.
