Ancestor:Descendants:

The spiny foima replaced its ancestor, the foima. Its skull has developed spines to protect it from predators. It also is purple in color to blend in with the curled reefballs it feed upon. It swims around using its frill for locomotion but most of the time its sits on the side of curled reefballs digesting it with its external stomach. Its eyes have also improved a bit so it can look out for predators. It also has developed eyelids to help keep sand out of them.
