The stalky windbulb split from its ancestor and no longer reproduces by budding. It doubled in size only because its seed stalk had become very tall, the rest of the flora is pretty much the same height. Its tall seed stalk allows its offspring to end up much farther away from the parent than its ancestor's offspring could be.
