The sune pretrified forest is located in what use to be Krakow Temperate Rainforest but is now Darwin High Desert. Climate change caused the temperate rainforest to become a high desert. Over time the fallen forest became buried under the mud and thus persevered it in the rock via fossilization. Due to the dry desert climate some of these fossils are exposed to the surface again. Most of what is exposed is that of the raincatching sunes.
