The symbioraft diaminet has split from its ancestor the brine diaminet. It has now left the waterways of Ovi into the oceans of Sagan 4. There it not only doubled in size but developed a symbiotic relationship with the island colonialball. It lets the island colonialballs grow on its connecting roots and absorb some nutrients from them. In return the island colonialball give them the nitrogen they need from the nitrogen fixing bacteria in their roots.
Like their ancestor the symbioraft diaminet will depends upon more on photosynthesis when prey is scarce. However when there is prey it catch them in it's sticky red fungi-like roots. These roots it will first paralyze with its numbing toxin and then dissolve with its strong enzymes. Next it will distribute its nutrients among all the symbioraft diaminet and island colonialballs thus ensuring that all will stay fed no matter where they sit within the web. Each can have up to 4 connections and each web can grow to up to 30 individuals.
Since they are hermaphroditic they can fertilize each other even when they are still connected. Thus creating genetic diversity even within a single colony. They have been so successful working with the island colonialballs that they have caused other floating flora to become extinct such as the jujubee lilydisk, florisland and seadisk.
