The vermisnapper split from its ancestor, the swiftsnapper. It has moved to a warmer climate and has specialized in eating the various tropical forest vermees. Due the the lack or large flora they must make their nests out of smaller flora like pioneeroots. These small nests are made on hillsides or even on the ground. The parents take turns looking after the nest and getting food. Males have a red chest while females are dull in color. They are smaller than their ancestor and will form small flocks when nesting and hunting for food.
