The waxface split from its ancestor and took advantage of the devastated environment that is western Wright. The skin of the bases of its neck and tail have merged to give a loose covering over what was once its back plate, the spine at the end of its tail has shrunk and sunken into the tail, resulting in a fleshy nub and it actually lost its hooves, replacing them with tough cartilage filled toes tipped with calluses. The ears have become larger to cool the creature down and to make hearing easier. Its short feathers have become mere velvet. Its tusks have moved under its mouth and close together, they are also covered in a tough wax to keep chitinase off.
Waxfaces hunt in tight packs of three or four as their normal prey are larger than they are, they kill in quick stabbing motions, using their tusks to inflict deep wounds in their prey before jumping away. They drink the blood of their victims (avoiding the chitinase on the skin of the carcass), but will occasionally consume flesh. The females will keep their eggs inside them until they are ready to hatch, at which point the female will journey to Ittiz River or Ittiz Swamp since the larvae still live in water. She will release the eggs only when her larvae actually begin to hatch inside her, this is so the eggs aren't washed away or drowned before the young can escape.
