The arhpet splits from its ancestor after a ferrumtine find its self on the beach. There the ferrumtine adapted and now, it doesn't use its flagella to move, instead it uses it as roots. It still feeds on organic particles, but it lost its taste for iron, because of the volcanic materials on the island, it adapted to feed on the silicon in the tephra. Its iron shell is lost as a result.
