Ancestor:Descendants:

A mutation cause a little seep snark to be born with tiny teeth. Instead of dying, The snark survived and lead to a new species, the baleen snark. After splitting from it's ancestor, the seep snark, the baleen snark adapted to a mostly filter feeder lifestyle still within the cold seep. It survives by sifting organic particles and microorganisms through it's teeth but, if need be, It will scavenge dead creatures.

The baleen snark loose-knit social structure. Usually, individuals live alone most of the year but can sometimes form longer-term relationships between pairs or small groups, lasting months or even years, but this is rare. They are able to breed after 2 years. All Baleen Snark congregate once a year to mate. Gestation is very quick and they lay their eggs after two weeks after mating. The baleen snark have evolved free floating eggs that are covered in a thick calcium covering to protect them from predators.

Living Relatives (click to show/hide)

These are randomly selected, and organized from lowest to highest shared taxon. (This may correspond to similarity more than actual relation)
  • Mangal Snark (order Eusqualichthyes)
  • Rosy Scylarian (class Squalichthyes)
