The ballcrust split from its ancestor and moved to the north glacier pole. It now has a ball shape and is completely covered with a powerful crust that helps it survive the deadly northern cold. It can even survive dormant inside the glacier for years and then melt down and reactivate its metabolism. It no longer lives in clusters and reproduces through mitosis. It has small patches it uses to concentrate the light gathering and photosynthesis.
