Splitting from its ancestor, the banded sucker foi has developed a parasitic life style in order to survive in the depleted oceans. Named after the large band on its back, it now feeds exclusively on nailfin blood. If threatened by a potential predator, they can produce a thick slime that is noxious to eat.
