Unlike its cousin, the [[Feathered Sauceback|feathered sauceback]], the '''barbed sauceback''' is not a social organism. Quite the opposite in fact, the barbed sauceback is a vicious creature who hunts alone. It received its name after the barbs that adorn its sharp tail. When an organism is stabbed with the barbed tail, the barbs become hooked; stopping the prey from being able to dislodge the sharp point and escape. The tusks of the sauceback have also changed, becoming longer and even slightly sharper. Because of these changes, each barbed sauceback hunts in a large area of territory, isolated away from any of its own kind, except during mating season.
