The braided rustweed split from its ancestor. A strange mutation has caused the leaves to wrap around themselves into a braid as it grows. This gives it greater support, and allows it to grow closer to the shore. Its reproductive system has slightly changed, when the roots of 2 braided rustweeds touch, genetic material is exchanged. The plant then grows tiny spore on its leaves, and the spores detach and float off and settle in the sand to grow.
