The broadleaf clamstrum split from its ancestor and moved to Raq Temperate Bay. The empty space, coupled with a large amount of microbes to feed on, allowed them to double in size.
Their leaves have gotten broader to increase the photosynthesizing surface, they have also turned a slightly darker shade of green to increase light absorption. The tendils have grown in complexity: they have split and moved up the leaf sides, which adds to the probability of contact. The ells on the leaf sides have become storage vessels for excess food produced from either process. Also a new central cell cluster has formed at the leaves' bases; this acts as a conduit between the leaves, transporting stored nutrients from one leaf to another. This helps if one leaf is damaged by weather or herbivores and needs repairs.
Individuals live for about 3 weeks. About halfway through their lives they will produce buds off of the central cell cluster which will full mature in about 4 days.
