The crawlerpede evolved from the krillpede when the krillpede developed primitive lungs to compliment their gills. These krillpede then discovered a promised land of free food on the beaches of Vivus island. While they still require their spores to be in water, they can crawl on land to consume their food, macrodendron. Their filtering hairs have become extremely thick, but the crawlerpede must first grind down the macrodendron before sucking the crushed pits into its mouth. The crawlerpede have grown to become 40 centimeters long due to island gigantism, and the simple fact that they have absolutely no predators on the Vivus island beaches.
