Ancestor:Descendants:

The crystalsnapper split from its ancestor the coastsnapper and migrated to Slarti Marsh and Slarti River. There it fed on the abundant cellulosebane crystal. Its green coloring is to blend in with it. Like most carpozoa species the crystalsnappers are deaf. To compensate for this it has regained some of its distant ancestor's chameleon-like skin on its dewlap in order to communicate via color signals. Since this is critical for communication both males and females have dewlaps.

Like their ancestors they are fiercely territorial and will fight over the lushes groves of cellulosebane crystal. While they can swim using their webbed feet they prefer to walk on the shore. Females will lay their frog-like eggs into pools they have dug in the mud. Beyond that they do not care for their offspring. Since they are cold-blooded they must frequently sun themselves.
