Ancestor:Descendants:

The dark sauceback replaced its ancestor, the long eared sauceback. With all the large prey leaving the caves it had to venture out to the desert. Its has grown to twice its ancestors size and is now completely nocturnal, as it was already use to hunting in the dark of the cave plus they are blind so light was not much of a factor. Not to mention their warm-blooded feathered bodies can stay warm even when its gets very cold at night.

Their main prey are the rocky capiri and megacapeye since they rely on sight only they have an advantage over them at night. Not only this, but the rocky capiri's epileptic color attack has no effect on a creature that has no sight. Their feathers are black to blend in with the darkness of night, however they must stay out of the sun during the day or risk overheating.

They hunt in small packs of 4 to 5 during the night and rest under rocks or boulders during the day. These informal burrows are also used for making their nests. They will raise their 3 to 4 eggs as a pack, however once grown the sibling usually leave their own pack to try to join another or form their own.
