The dwarf swaberry replaced its ancestor, it only gets leave stalks at its base, this allows it to not have to grow a main stalk before developing new leaf stalks. The water that fills its leaves have an organic antifreeze added to them to keep them from freezing and ripping open, this allows them to survive in the tundra fairly easily. Because of their leaves ability to survive freezing cold, and to regrow damaged leaf stalks so easily, they are able to grow and regrow their berry stalks quickly. They are common in Barlowe Tundra and the banks of the Ittiz River, they will even grow in the river itself, clusters of leaf stalks poking up out of the water is a not unusual.
