The feathered barb split from it's ancestor the yanimalius probisucker and doubled in size. It developed a cell wall for protection against predators. The two side proboscises changed into feathery leaf-like retractable organelles used purely for photosynthesis, thus losing the ability to consume other lifeforms. The middle proboscis became thinner and streamlined so it can move through the water faster, it also pivots to better control the direction of movement.
