Ancestor:Descendants:

The flying silverling split from the silverling. Due to the mass amount of green swarmers, which are nearly everywhere, many creatures specialized on them. The flying silverling is one of them. It feeds almost only on swarmers, mainly the green ones. To protect itself from some of the predators on the sea like the snarks it gained the ability to glide some distance outside the water. When it enters the water again some hundred meters away it's safe from the predator. To be able to glide outside the water its wings had to undergo some changes. First of all its wings on the side have grown much larger to catch as much air as possible while gliding. The lower spike of the tail fin got bigger than the upper one, allowing the flying silverling to keep gliding in the air by dipping it into the water while gliding. The back and the ventral fins kept their form to perform the same task for swimming in the water.
