The follower gilltail split from its ancestor, the marine gilltail and moved to Raq Temperate Bay. There it found only one thing to eat, the pioneer sandglobe. It has kept its big beak to gulp pioneer sandglobe whole, with roots and corpus, since gilltails can't rest to eat. The big beak is also used for mating fights between males and for fighting against predators if necessary. When fighting, males will swim close together and clash beaks until one gives up. The winner will mate with the female, which will bury the eggs into the sand. Due to its purple diet, its fins have also become purple, since the pigments of the pioneer sandglobes settle into the actually transparent fins.
